B'rinna {Part 10}

Read {part 1}, {part 2}, {part 3}, {part 4}, {part 5}, {part 6}, {part 7}, {part 8}, and {part 9}. Can you believe that this is the 10th part in the series? I can't! Enjoy! :)

Last time...

"Well, it's like this, because you were pre-destined to save the Heavens, your brain has forever been programmed to read the ancient languages like Greek, Latin, etc. But I'll explain more another day, right now you have to study." And with that, he gathered his things and left the room.

I studied into the night and only broke my concentration when Axel came into the room. I looked up as he closed the door behind him. And nearly had a heart attack!
"Axel! What.. why... ahh!" I nearly screamed as I ran to engulf him in a massive hug.

B'rinna {Part 9}

Read {part 1}, {part 2}, {part 3}, {part 4}, {part 5}, {part 6}, {part 7}, and {part 8}.

Last time...
Mercury stepped forward and said,"My Lord, I shall proceed with educating this fine young female mortal in all things Dark Lands."

Then the work began in earnest. A dryad showed me my sleeping chambers, and I clambered onto the bed and fell asleep instantly. I was woken up by a knock on the door. A nymph, trailed by some dryads carrying a bronze tub between them. The tub, with it's lion feet, was set down, and filled with water. The dryads helped me out of my mud-splattered clothes and combed my hair. One of them held a mirror in front of me. I hadn't realized how dirty I was. I climbed into the bath gratefully and drifted off to sleep as the nymphs worked to clean me of the dirt, and purify me of my words. They gently woke me up, and clothed in the most exquisite I had ever seen. It was a light green, with very fine needlework on both sleeves in various colours. Then they braided my hair with flowers, and sweet smells.

A short while later, after the nymphs had left, Mercury entered with a pile of ancient manuscripts. "Now, B'rinna, you are to read through these like your life depends on it, which it does, but these manuscripts contain everything we know about the Dark Lands, and the legends that surround it. Read carefully, my dear." I looked at him, not knowing what to say. Didn't he understand that I had dyslexia. That I couldn't read properly. I tentatively opened the first book, and... I could read as clearly as I could see my dress. I looked at Mercury in amazement.
"Um. Mercury, I can read."
"Of course you can, everyone can read," he replied
"No, I mean, in my world it was always annoying to read cause all the letters would get mixed up."
"Oh, you mean that dysplexia-thing?"
"Uh, yeah, dyslexia. It means that I can't read properly."
"Well, it's like this, because you were pre-destined to save the Heavens, your brain has forever been programmed to read the ancient languages like Greek, Latin, etc. But I'll explain more another day, right now you have to study." And with that, he gathered his things and left the room.

B'rinna {Part 8}

Read {part 1}, {part 2}, {part 3}, {part 4}, {part 5}, {part 6}, and {part 7}. I'll try to make it longer this week. :) Enjoy!

Last time...
 "If she doesn't save us, we are doomed. If Mercury is bluffing us, he's dead to me, and the Heavens."
Zeuz was in my face now. I could smell his breath, sweet, yet sour at the same time. He grabbed my arm and lifted it to his face. "Well," he said as he dropped it,"You have the Mark, but are you brave enough?"
"I don't know, sir. I've always been told that I have the strength of a lion, the gentleness of a dove, and the craftiness of a serpent. Will that be good enough for you?" I replied with as much courage as I could muster. A faint chuckle erupted from the King of the Gods, and a smile spread across his face.
"Good enough, B'rinna, you are perfect for the task set before you."
"Um, sir, eh, what is the Dark Lands?" I asked, all the while looking at Mercury, willing him to say something.
Mercury stepped forward and said,"My Lord, I shall proceed with educating this fine young female mortal in all things Dark Lands."

B'rinna {Part 7}

Read {part 1}, {part 2}, {part 3}, {part 4}, {part 5}, and {part 6} by clicking on them. Sorry I've been a bit MIA lately, I've been sick. :)

Last time...

People (creatures) started touching me, and proclaiming my feat (that I hadn't yet completed) of bravery, courage, and absolute heroism.

I'd never been popular before, so the feeling was completely new and distant. I started to understand why famous people hated the paparazzi, nothing safe, everything open to the public. Suddenly, Zeus got up and walked  towards me. Pushing aside those creatures, he muttered to himself, "If she doesn't save us, we are doomed. If Mercury is bluffing us, he's dead to me, and the Heavens."

B'rinna {Part 6}

Read {part 1}, {part 2}, {part 3}, {part 4}, and {part 5}.

I looked at Mercury like he grew 15 extra arms. "What's the Mark," I asked, "And where do I have it?"
"My dear," Mercury looked put out, "The Mark is on your arm, right there." he said pointing.
"Oh that," I was flabbergasted, that was just an old scar, "That happened when I fell off my horse, and got gravel rash. Nothing spectacular." All of a sudden, a light, faint at first but growing stronger, seemed to emit from my arm. "Mercury, what did you do?"
"Nothing, that's just what happens." He sighed and continued to talk to Zeuz, "As I was saying, she has the Mark. And B'rinna shall defeat the Dark Land once, and for all!" A startled silence fell, and then, slowly, applause started. Like wildfire it spread, and soon I was hoisted on to a faun's shoulders and carried around the room. People (creatures) started touching me, and proclaiming my feat (that I hadn't yet completed) of bravery, courage, and absolute heroism.

B'rinna {Part 5}

Read {part 1}, {part 2}, {part 3}, and {part 4} by clicking on them. Sorry this is so late, and stuff!

Last time:
"He's in a bad mood today, Mercury, you better have that mortal." I walked into the throne room with shaky legs and the doors slammed shut behind us...
And we were standing in a room that stretched as far as the eye could see. Filled with all types of plants, creatures, and, ugh, insects. In the middle sat two thrones. In one there was a lady, her eyes filled with sparkles, her hair shimmering like gold. Next to her sat a man, whose face looked like it could, in one glance, crumble entire empires. Which it probably did.
"Mercury," a booming voice emitted from the hard face, "Did you bring the mortal?"
"Yes, my Lord Zeuz, may you prosper forever," he gasped,"She is right here." And then, he shoved me forward. Zeuz looked at me with a long, withering stare.
"A girl," he spluttered, "All these weeks waiting, and you brought me back a female mortal?" His face had begun to grow red and angry.
"Um, not just any girl, my League, this one bears the Mark." A gasp came from every corner, every spot in the room. Faces were staring at me, and whispers were flung around, carelessly, in my hearing.I heard it all around.

"Yes," Mercury continued, "The Mark!"

Brinna {Part 4}

It's been a while, friends, but I'm back and to prove it you have a post. I've been a bit patchy these past few weeks (check it out here) Anyway read the parts you missed by clicking on the links. :) Go on, do it! {part 1}{part 2},{part 3}

Thor raised his hammer and...

BANG!!! A massive explosion shook the cave and we were flung into the air. And then we were in a meadow of... purple flowers. "Thor! I told you Zeus' palace, not his meadow! You know I get hayfe..." and Mercury sneezed, rather loudly. Thor chuckled.
"Sorry, Mercury, I must have hit the portal a bit too hard." Thor raised hammer again, and we were standing in a courtyard, surrounded by fauns, centaurs, nymphs, you name it. Every creature I had previously thought of as a figment of my imagination was there!
"Thor, Mercury, and ever so puny mortal, Zeus would like to see you right away! And quick smart, run, you silly girl, don't just stand there, run!" I recognized her as Hera, Zeus' wife. So we ran, and fast. We got to the throne room, puffing and holding our sides... Well I did, at least. And then a big booming voice came through the doors. "But Dad, please...?"
"No, go on, off with you, Hercules!" A young man stalked out of the room and gave us a warning.
"He's in a bad mood today, Mercury, you better have that mortal." I walked into the throne room with shaky legs and the doors slammed shut behind us...

B'rinna {Part 3}

Read {part 1} & {part 2} by clicking on them :) I know that this is mixing like three different religions but bear with me, it'll be cool... I think :p

*Last time*
"'Can I please get a drink?' Trembling with fear I waited for an answer..."

"Oh my goodness, Thor! We totally forgot she was a mortal and needed supplements." A face came into view and I gasped. It looked like Mercury, messenger of the Roman gods! "Get her some spring water, Thor, and some wild berries. Just make sure it's not nightshade! And hurry!"
"Oh goodness," I muttered to myself, "I am officially going mad, in a cave with two lunatics who are dressed as gods of pagan religions. They're gonna eat me!"
"Here we go, Mercury. It's not nightshade, or even berries, I checked. I kinda accidentally killed a deer." a gruff voice called out from somewhere behind me. Twisting my head, I struggled to sneak a look. What I saw scared me witless. A man, or god, stood above me so close I could have plucked all his leg hairs off. As I looked up I noticed the hammer in his hand.
"This must be Thor," I said out loud, "But how..."
"How what, my dear?" Mercury (or the petite man) asked.
"May I just point out here, Mercury, that she looks almost afraid of you." Thor chuckled which seemed to rattle the earth's foundations.
"Woh, wait a minute," I sat up, hands in the air, "You guys know each other?"
"Well, yes. Why wouldn't we?" Mercury asked, a curious look on his face.
"Well, one, you cannot be real. Axel must have knocked me a good one. And two, you guys are from two totally different set of myths!" Mercury quickly nodded at Thor and stepped back. Thor raised his hammer and...

B'rinna {Part Two}

Oh my, I actually feel so bad! I always forget that I post on Tuesdays. Sorry guys... Now, where was I? Read the first part{here}... :)

I turned and then *BANG* a blinding flash of pain crippled me.

"Dude, I may have whacked her a bit too hard."
"Well, we needed her out of the way."
"Are you sure she's the one?"
"Thor, who else do you know called B'rinna, that looks like the Merciful One, may she live forever, and those eyes, Thor"

Groaning, I tried to rub my eyes. But I couldn't. Opening my eyes I found I was in a small damp cave with mildew everywhere. I could just see a light, like a fire, at the opening. "Hello," my voice squeaked, "Hello, can anyone hear me?"
"Ooh, she's awake. Shall I hit her again, Mercury?"
"Oh, goodness no, Thor! We need her awake so she can meet Zeuz."
"Please," I said, "Could I get a drink?" Trembling with fear I waited for an answer

B'rinna... to be continued

Hey guys I'm Sarah, and I'm gonna be posting stuff on Tuesdays.

"'The light goes off now, Brin!' Mum was being a pain again. And this time it wasn't my fault. It was Axel. He snuck into my room and pinched me on my ear. Hard. Of course being a girl and having a really bad pain threshold I screamed. Loudly.
'Holy mackerel, Axel! What did you do that for?'
'You were supposed to asleep an hour ago, sister. I just thought I'd help you in the process.'
'Yes Mum! I'm going to bed now!' I turned to Axel and whispered under my breath,'Get the hell outta here before I tell Dad.'
'Yes ma'am. Happy to do service with you.' And with that he bowed and walked out the door. I logged off my laptop and stomped down the stairs to say goodnight.
As I walked down the stair I heard something behind. And I knew it wasn't Axel. I turned and then..."
